I have been in the insurance industry for over 13 years and have over 600 clients, but only had fourdeath claims. Below is a summary of these four claims with names changed.

L. B & D.F.

Back in May 2002, my husband (L) died of a brain embolism. We had no idea!. He was a fit and healthy 37-year old (or so we thought). He worked out, did karate. His job as a courier involved a lot of running, so he was very fit, but he died of a blood clot to the brain. We had so much more to look forward to!

About two years before this happened, we had Kerry come in and talk to us about our insurance options. He covered all the bases of personal risk insurance, but as we did not have much money we only could afford death cover. But the cover that was put in place for either of our untimely deaths came in two parts:

The first part was a lump sum that was equal to our home mortgage and other debts. This allowed me to stay in the home we had purchased together. But as my husband was the only income earner and we had two children under five, I was not working. This is where the second death cover option came into play.

This was a monthly death benefit (like an annuity) that was designed to pay a regular payment for a period of years. We set this at an initial amount of $2500 per month payable for 15 years. This would cover either of us until the children were at a stage where they could assist with costs if something drastic happened. Since my husband's death, this benefit has now increased to over $3200 per month and it is tax free and has another eight years to go. I can go to work, stay at home if need be, but I know that each month that money hits my bank account and I don't have a mortgage to pay.

While I have lost my husband and the kids have lost their father, we had insurance cover in place that has allowed us to continue.

Thanks Kerry - D. F.

G. & T. P.

(T) I had been a client of Kerry's since early 2002 before I meet my future husband (G) in 2003 and we called Kerry around to discuss our combined insurance options. We changed some insurance around to reflect our new situation and proceeded on with life. About two years later we had a lovely daughter. Once again we talked with Kerry to discuss our insurance options and reviewed our insurances.

In December 2006 we got the fright of our lives. (G) had been having some medical problems and was diagnosed with bowel cancer. In February 2007, we lodged a trauma claim with the insurance company we had our business with, which was paid and helped us greatly. This only came about because Kerry gave us a review call and we told him what had happened. He sent us a claim form as he felt that this was a claimable event under the Trauma cover we had. We also had medical insurance that was used partly, but because the cancer was so advanced and private medical could not cover us, we relied on the public system for treatment which was very supportive. From this time and up until about May 2007, (G) was still able to work part-time, even though he was having chemotherapy. However once the cancer was reduced, he had an operation to remove the affected area of his bowel and Liver and then he went onto Chemo and Radiotherapy. This knocked him about a bit, but as we had put in place two disability products, one for our mortgage and one for his income, we lodged a claim on the insurance company for payment of these benefits. All the while I was not working as I was looking after (G) and our daughter.

About 14 months after the original diagnosis (G) was feeling much better and getting on top of things. He went back to work part-time again and was looking forward to getting a clearance later in the year. However this did not happen as he was told that the cancer had not abated and was now more aggressive than ever. He struggled through but by about September/ October 2008 he was unable to work and again we lodged a claim for our disability covers with the insurance company.

We finally lost my husband, my friend and father for our lovely daughter in October 2008 after a long battle. He was farewelled by a large group of family and friends.

The life insurance we had in place allowed me to become mortgage free in the house we had set up as our home.

Thank you Kerry - T. P.

L & K D.

We were not strong insurance believers. We had a call from Kerry way back in June 2000, wanting to call by and discuss insurance with us. He went through "the circles" - death cover, trauma cover, TPD, Income/mortgage covers and medical covers. We had minimal cover via the bank on (L) only, but decided to add equal cover for both of us but for death only.

Life went on. We got regular email newsletters and phone calls from Kerry or his client manager but did not require any more cover. We were alright!

In June 2009 (L) had a major stroke and died suddenly. No signs, he was perfectly fit, took the kids to sport and was sporty himself. Luckily we did not have a mortgage on our family home, but we did have an investment property with a mortgage and the death cover has allowed me to release some of this debt to provide me and the kids with an income. I am still working and want to, but we would like to thank Kerry for the smooth and seamless process of claiming (L's) death benefit from the insurance company. He was always on the case, advising of progress, details of what forms were required etc.

Thanks Kerry (K)

T & J T.

Our insurance was not originally arranged by Kerry, but we asked him to become our adviser as he and his wife are close friends. We tried to get additional cover on T. but due to medical events he was excluded. T. only had a small sum assured under his existing policy with AMP, which was only just sufficient to cover final costs and some smaller debts my husband had. Unfortunately this was all the cover we could get.

After my husbands death I was throughly pleased with what Kerry did to arrange for the settlement of our death claim. It took less than three weeks from the date of notification, until the funds were placed into my bank account. I was told by other friends that settlement may take weeks if not months but because Kerry had arranged for us to see a Solicitor to arrange Enduring Power of Attorney and had changed the ownership of the insurance policy so that any funds were paid directly to me, the process was fast and seamless. Kerry arranged and gave me all of the forms required to settle the claim.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Kerry to anyone.
